Ken Walibora.
Prof. Ken Walibora was renowned for promoting Swahili, Kenya's national language he used in writing his books. In 2018, he expressed his concern over some Kenyan schools that overlook Swahili language. His most prominent book was his first novel Siku njema, which was later translated inti English as A Good day. It was used as a set book in high schools around the country for many years. His other novels are 'Kufa Kuzikana, Ndoto ya Almasi (Diamond dream), Nasikia sauti ya Mama (I hear my mother's voice) among many others.
He played a key role in promoting Swahili not only in Kenya but East Africa and some of his books were used to teach Swahili in Europe i.e Oxford University and in America. The were used as set books to promote Swahili literature in East Africa and the entire world. This has helped in the push of Swahili language to be adopted in Africa as an official language. Countries like South Africa are teaching it in their schools which is a milestone in achieving it's goal.
