The Baganda tribe in Uganda is particularly known for their pride in making best matooke dish. The tribe has a deep cultural connection to this dish. They are harvested fresh, peeled and cooked in banana leaves, tied in heaps and steamed. The dish is served and eaten with various stews including chicken, meat, fish, groundnuts and beans. It can also be cooked in form of katogo, which includes groundnuts, beans and meat with traditional vegetables often served as traditional breakfast. It is rich in starch, fibre and potassium. It supports heart health, stabilizes blood sugar levels and aids digestion.
