Men det må ha vore før Svartedauden, skriv [[Reidar Vollen]] i &#039;&#039;[[Bygland gard og ætt]]&#039;&#039;. Øvre Hegland var så truleg eitt bruk fram mot år 1600. Då blei garden delt i to, i «Torgrims bruk» og «Lidvors bruk». <br /> <br /> Den første namngjevne personen frå Hegland er Gro Hegland (nemnt 1437). Ein veit ikkje om ho høyrde til Øvre eller Nedre Hegland. Ein [[Tellef Ånundson Hegland]] er nemnt i 1512.
